Swaying to the rhythm of the music

There was a lot of shaking and hip swaying at the Popstars Dance Academy presentation in Chalfont St Giles last week.

The show held at the Memorial Hall, in School Lane, last Wednesday was the culmination of the little dancers' hard work this summer.

The focus has been on disco, and they have enjoyed learning high-energy dance routines and extending their knowledge of dance patterns.

The five- to seven-years-olds performed to disco anthems I Will Survive and Blame it on The Boogie in routines that involved dancing with glitter microphones and dance ribbons.

Sandy Mullins, joint managing director, said: "It was very rewarding to see so many smiling faces.

"The children really loved receiving their special popstar medal in recognition of their outstanding achievements."

The eight- to 11-year-olds excelled in their performances of That's the Way I Like it, performed with cheerleader pom-poms and dance ribbons.

Jo Franks, joint managing director, said: "We want our students to build in confidence and most importantly to have fun while progressing in dance.

"Our classes are planned so the children gain a knowledge of our technical dance syllabus using dance props, which include pom poms, glitter hats and blow-up guitars."

Instructors at the Popstars Academy are qualified dance teachers. The academy runs term-time classes in Chalfont St Giles, Tylers Green and Amersham.

If you would like your child to attend a free trial class, spaces are now available. For more information, go to www.PopstarsAcademy.com or call 0870 850 6018
