WITH the laces firmly tied on their sturdy shoes a group of walkers marched out of Chalfont St Giles in a bid to keep fit and learn all about their local countryside.
For six years Buckinghamshire County Council has been running their Simply Walk scheme in Amersham, Great Missenden, Chalfont St Peter and Chesham alongside Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust, and disrict councils.
The scheme sees trained volunteers leading groups of walkers around the respective areas and on Wednesday last week (August 20), a new route in Chalfont St Giles, was launched.
Would-be time lords should fly to Chalfont St Giles village green to buy tickets from an inter-galactic ticket booth for September's country show.
A homeowner has slammed Chiltern District Council for allowing his neighbour to build an extension which he claims is ruining the look of his entire street.
Chalfonts Beekeepers' Society's evening meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 8pm in the Parish Reading Room, High Street.

There will not be a baby clinic on Wednesday, August 20 at the Guide Hut, School Lane.
There will be a planning meeting on August 27, in Garden Centre, School Lane at 8pm. Fifteen minutes are allocated prior to each meeting for public questions and discussion.
Chalfont St Giles Gardens Association meets on the second Thursday of each month at 8pm in the
Memorial Hall.
