Students treated after arson attack
Two students were treated for smoke inhalation after a bin caught fire in a suspected arson attack.
The incident happened at Buckinghamshire New University in Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Giles on Sunday, October 26.
A spokesman for the university confirmed that two female students resident on the campus were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics just after 3am on Sunday and that the women had not sustained any serious injuries.
She said the incident, which started in a bin outside the building, had been reported to the police.
Fraser Pearson, spokesman for Buckinghamshire fire and rescue service, confirmed the fire was put out by a crew from Amersham fire station and warned that if smoke travels inside from an outside fire, it can be very serious.
"A fire like this can kill you if the smoke gets to you before the flames and you breathe in too much," he said.
