Co-op robber sentenced
A schizophrenic man who admitted to robbing the Co-Op in Chalfont St Giles was handed a three-year community order this week for a host of similar offences.
Lee Jackson, 30, of Gayhurst Road, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to the robbery on the first day of a separate trial for breaking into a supermarket in Daventry, Northamptonshire, in 2004 and stealing £20,000.
It was only when he was arrested on suspicion of a series of hotel and supermarket burglaries in Bucks last June that his DNA matched the crime committed four years previously.
After admitting the Co-Op robbery and committing burglaries on two pubs in Bucks and two offences of card fraud Jackson was given the community order which included mental health treatment after his lawyers successfully argued that a custodial sentence would worsen his condition.
Judge Peter Morrell told Jackson he would be jailed for two years if he breaks the terms of his community order.
