VISITORS to the Chiltern Open Air Museum will take a step back in time this weekend when the site holds a 1920s event.
The museum in Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Giles, will be holding its Flappers. Frolics and Fun event, which will see visitors learning more about the life and times of the 1920s through a series of activities and demonstrations.
The site has an array of 1920s themed attractions lined up for visitors, such as tennis and croquet games, glasses of Pimms and the opportunity to find our more about the Depression and life after the First World War.

CHILDREN at Chalfont St Giles Junior School have been treated to a host of activities in recent weeks.
Youngsters at the school in Parsonage Road have recently taken part in a project week, a music event and a Victorian Day.

A CHALFONT St Giles museum is celebrating after being seen by millions of viewers on a popular television programme.
The Chiltern Open Air Museum in Gorelands Lane was featured on the BBC's One Show last week, which featured feminist Germaine Greer taking a tour around the site.

Gillan taken to task over expenses

CHERYL Gillan, MP for the Chalfonts, Chesham and Amersham, has been blasted by her constituents this week after it was revealed that she claimed for three tins of dog food on her expenses.
Mrs Gillan, who is the shadow Welsh secretary, was found to have submitted a Sainsbury's receipt for £27.25 for groceries which included £4.47 worth of pet food.

OVER the next few weeks, residents across the area are set to go to the polls to vote in the County Council and European elections.
The candidates have all been announced, and during the coming weeks, we will be profiling all them.

A LONG vanished feature of life in Buckinghamshire is being brought back to life at the Chiltern Open Air Museum.
A grant from the Chilterns Conservation Board has seen a lambing fold project put in place at the site Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Giles, which has already been put to good use this year with the birth of new lambs.

Michael Stannard will be one of 100 men taking part in the event at midnight on June 6, which is designed to raise funds for the charity.

Gardens in the village are set to open their gates to vistors at the weekend
The Chalfont St Giles Gardens Open Day is set to take place on Sunday, May 10, and will see nine gardens in the village as well as Flexmore Farm opening up for the public.
All the gardens involved have been selected for their variety and horticultural interest.
Tickets for the event are £4.50 and can be bought from the library in the High Street in the run up to the event.

CHALFONT St Giles based Buckinghamshire Building Society have announced positive yearly figures, a new chairman and chief executive at their AGM this month.
Ivan Gould will take over at CEO from the retiring Jim Mundell while Robert Currie is to take up the position of chairman from the also retiring Howard Machin.
The society saw its total assets grow by nearly 15 per cent to £160m and it also saw its mortgage balance increase.
Mr Gould said: "My role as chief executive will be to maintain our stability while providing the best opportunities for savers."
