Germaine Greer visits Open Air Museum

A CHALFONT St Giles museum is celebrating after being seen by millions of viewers on a popular television programme.
The Chiltern Open Air Museum in Gorelands Lane was featured on the BBC's One Show last week, which featured feminist Germaine Greer taking a tour around the site.

Ms Greer investigated the history of laundry from early times, through to the washing machines and Laundromats of today.
Sue Shave, the museum's director, said: "We were thrilled that the One Show chose to film this particular piece at the museum because of our wonderful Victorian Toll House scullery and skilled demonstrators, and to have Germaine Greer here on the site was very exciting."
The clip showed Ms Greer learning how to laundry was done in the Victorian period, and demonstrator Pam Linsey was on hand to show how things were done in comparison with a modern washing machine.
Ms Shave added: "Germaine put her feet up and waited for the washing machine to do it in far less time."
