A CHILDREN'S singing group is celebrating it second birthday.
Over the Rainbow, which is based in Chalfont St Giles, was started by Melissa Alder in 2007.
The group are set to celebrate by starting a new course which will run throughout the summer, and which will introduce children to different types of world music.
Melissa said: "The children will visit a different musical country each day with a mix of music, song, dance and make-up.
"After two years we thought it was time to offer a summer course open to regular and new members."

Dictionaries donated to schools

PUPILS throughout Gerrards Cross and the Chalfonts should see their vocabularies improving after having been given copies of dictionaries.
Rotary clubs across the area donated the books to the schools, and there will now be a copy of the Usborne Illustrated Dictionary in the library of each school.

NOISY motorbikes ridden by youths are causing anger and frustration for a host of residents in Chalfont St Peter.
People living in the Leachcroft area and on the other side of the village towards on land near to the National Society for Epilepsy (NSE) have made regular complaints to the police about the noise caused by the youths, who ride their vehicles on land near to their homes.

A HUGELY popular fancy dress shop in Chalfont St Giles is set to close due to the retirement of its owner.

Donation for hospital

A HOSPITAL is celebrating after being giving a donation from a community group.
The League of Friends for the Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Hospital was given a cheque for £550 by the Chalfont St Peter Masonic Lodge.
Sara Sabine, chairman of the league, said: "We were very grateful for the donation and have put it towards paying for a new physiotherapist at the hospital to cut down on waiting times."

Knights to descend on museum

VISITORS to the Chiltern Open Air Musuem will be confronted with real life knights in armour this weekend.
A historical re-enactment group will provide a glimpse of what life was like in the 15th Century, with a display of archery through the ages and bouts of head to head combat to demonstrate the strength of medieval armour.

A BUCKS county councillor has criticised some of the 'dirty' campaigning in his ward after he beat off an Independent candidate to reclaim his seat.
Martin Tett (Con), BCC cabinet member for strategic planning, was elected in The Chalfonts and Seer Green ward with 3,112 votes along with Timothy Butcher (Con) with 3,451 votes.

Project Pinewood plans submitted

PINEWOOD Studios have submitted their plans for their controversial expansion of their site to South Bucks District Council (SBDC).
The historic film making site are planning a massive increase to their base in Pinewood Road, which would see them expanding onto Green Belt land.

BUTTERFLY spotters in Chalfont St Peter have had a treat in recent weeks after an influx of African insects.
Painted Lady butterflies have not been seen anywhere in the Chiltern District for more than two years, but experts believe that the recent spate of warm weather has led to them flocking to the village.
