Project Pinewood plans submitted

PINEWOOD Studios have submitted their plans for their controversial expansion of their site to South Bucks District Council (SBDC).
The historic film making site are planning a massive increase to their base in Pinewood Road, which would see them expanding onto Green Belt land.

The plans would see a number of permanent film sets being built in Iver Heath, which would resemble places like Paris, New Orleans, San Francisco and Venice.
People would be able to live in the sets, and it is believed that the idea would prove attractive to film makers, who would no longer be forced to jet across the world in order to film at different locations.
The plans were submitted to SBDC on Monday this week and it is expected that a decision on them will be made in 16 weeks.
Andrew Smith, group director of corporate affairs at the studio, said: "We held a public exhibition in September which was very well attended and we got a lot of feedback which we have taken on board.
"There are people who are always going to be opposed to it because of the Green Belt issue, but the fact is that the Green Belt we are talking about is not particularly high quality.
"If the UK is to stay at the forefront of film making, we need this development to happen. It will cut the film industry's carbon footprint hugely and would create around 960 jobs."
If the plans are rejected by SBDC, Pinewood are likely to appeal, before eventually going to the government with them because they feel the proposals are of national interest.
However, Fulmer parish council still believe that the plans will have a huge effect on their village.
Parish clerk Peter Kelly said: "Our views have not changed. We remain opposed to these proposals and would expect SBDC to reject them because of the Green Belt issue."
