College celebrates GCSE results
STUDENTS at the Chalfonts Community College celebrated after receiving their best ever set of GCSE results.
The school, in Narcot Lane, Chalfont St Peter, had 74 per cent of its students achieving A* to C grades, with some pupils achieving 14 GCSEs at this level.
The school also saw 63 per cent of its students achieving A* to C grades where the subjects included English and Maths, which is six per cent higher than the school managed last year.
One of the outstanding performances this year was from Michael Rock, 16, who received seven A*s, five As, one B and one C.
He said: "I was thrilled by my results, but I was quite nervous coming into school. They are a lot better than I was expecting so it's a big relief to have got good results. I'm going to stay on here next year for sixth form and then maybe go on to university afterwards."
Sue Tanner principal of the school, said: "These GCSE results are stunning. I am so thrilled for the students who, with the help of their teachers and parents have worked exceptionally hard to perform at this level.
"The achievement in English and Mathemetics, two subjects essential for success, are fantastic."
