Anti drug classes to start in village

PARENTS worried about the dangers of drugs and alcohol can rest easy thanks to a new course set to begin in Chalfont St Peter.
The course, entitled Drug Proof Your Kids, is run by five mothers of teenagers from the village, and takes place at the Chalfont St Peter youth centre.

The group are all trained by national charity Care fro the Family, and the course is aimed at parents of children aged eight and over.
It is designed to educate children to make good choices, and how to talk to them about alcohol and drugs and recognise if they are using them.
Deborah Elliott, one of the parents who runs the group, said: "We ran two courses recently in Chalfont St Peter and they were received really well in the village.
"People who came along said they welcomed the chance to talk to us and other parents about the pressures their children are put under to try alcopop type drinks and cigarettes at an early age, or experiment with cannabis and other drugs.
"Parents are often put on the spot by their children and feel they have to make snap decisions about what's OK and what's not.
"The course gives them a bit of time out to talk about theses issues in a relaxed and friendly environment."
The cost of the course is £30 and runs every Tuesday from October 6.
