Cancer survivor shows her sweet tooth by selling cakes for charity
A WOMAN who survived cancer has decided to raise funds for the charity that helped her through her ordeal by selling a selection of special cupcakes.
Lynn Holloway, 44, of Chalfont St Giles, beat cancer in 1990 and was featured in the Buckinghamshire Advertiser at the time.
In the years since, she has endured an unsuccessful relocation the USA, and has now returned to the village to set up a successful cupcake business despite the problems of the recession.
Mrs Holloway, who is married with three children, designs and makes all of her cupcakes at her home and then delivers them to clients.
She said: "The idea of selling cupcakes came from my stay in the States, where it is quite a big industry. Being a creative person I decided to concentrate on specialised designs suitable for weddings and other special occasions.
"The business is now going from strength to strength and I am getting more and more clients from the recommendations of other people."
October is National Breast Cancer Month, and because of this, Mrs Holloway has designed a number of cupcakes with this as their theme.
She will donate 20 per cent of all her profits during the month to Cancer Research as a thank you for their work in helping her through her illness.
She said: "They saved my life. I have had two friends who have suffered breast cancer in the last five years and survived, and I want to say thanks for all the research that is being done into the disease.
"I want to encourage as many people as possible to buy a box of cakes, and to send them to any friends or family they have who have survived cancer."
