Eleven donkeys stolen from farm

AN ELDERLY man is distraught after his 11 pet donkeys were stolen over night from his farm near Chalfont St Giles.

Thieves got onto his land, between Chalfont St Giles and Amersham, through fields late on Friday or during the early hours of Saturday and took the animals in a vehicle.
Police believe they are destined for Ireland or the continent and if that happens they will be sold either for meat, or as pets for farm animals.
They are not releasing the exact location of the farm as the owner is frail and vulnerable.
They are appealing for anybody who saw anything suspicious to come forward in the hope that the ten female donkeys and a female - named Margo, Dana, Annick, Jodie, Tommy, Jill, Ruby, Violet, Granny - might be found before it is too late.
Helen Evans, Thames Valley Police equine liaison volunteer, said: "The owner is an elderly gentlemen who is sad and depressed at the loss of his pets. He had seven donkeys stolen three years ago and they were never found.
"We think the thieves entered through a side field, and because the donkeys are small, they would have got them all into a horse box or a small van.
"There is a big market for donkeys in other countries and I fear they may already have gone, but we are hoping that somebody knows something.
