Nurse to take on Sahara desert trek

A NURSE from Chalfont St Peter is set to swap her day to day routine for a gruelling trek across the Sahara desert.
Liz Bunker, who is a clinical nurse working at Hillingdon Hospital, is going to take on the 100km journey in February next year in order to raise funds for charity.

Ms Bunker, along with four other colleagues, will join a group of 60 trekkers to undertake the taxing nine day hike.
They will walk for seven hours a day, challenged by a mix of flat desert terrain, while also facing extreme temperatures of heat and cold, as well as stinging wind blowing sand into their faces.
Ms Bunker and her colleagues are taking on the challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, which will go towards the building of a new support and information centre at Hilligdon Hospital to be used by people suffering from the disease.
Ms Bunker said: "This is one of the toughest things I will ever do but having worked in this field for 16 years, I really understand the need to be able to support not only cancer patients but anybody with a life limiting condition."
The group, who have called themselves the Ra Ra Girls, hope to raise at least £20,000 before setting off, and have already organised a number of events to help them reach their target, including two dance nights to take place in the coming months.
If you would like to sponsor the team, visit www.justgiving.com/theraragirls, or if you would like to donate a prize to be raffled at one of Liz's forthcoming events, email her at liz.bunker@thh.nhs.uk.

We'd like to hear from you.

Since when did Chalfont St Peter become part of Chalfont St Giles? This has been happening a lot recently. Just CSG news in the CSG section please.
