Open Air Museum wins top prize in audio competition
EMPLOYEES at a museum are celebrating after winning a national award.
Chiltern Open Air Museum in Gorelands Lane, Chalfont St Giles, won £5,000 worth of audio equipment after having their audio tour judged as one of the best in the UK.
The museum entered the competition at the beginning of summer and worked on a small tour with the aim of impressing the judges.
Emma Parsons, one of the team that created the winning tour, said: "We are all very proud of what we have achieved. The equipment we have won is well beyond what a museum of our size could hope to have and we know that the use of audio tours greatly enhances visitor experience.
"Our aim was to bring the buildings to life and provide something entertaining and educational for families, social historians and building enthusiasts alike."
The audio tour that the museum created tells the story of the buildings in the site and uses the memories of people from the area who have used the site over the years.
