Feast day organisers celebrate huge success
ORGANISERS of this year's Chalfont St Peter Feast Day celebrated the extraordinary success of the event with a special reception.
This year, the village's Chamber of Commerce and parish council combined to bring back the event, which dates back to medieval times.
Last year, there was no feast day, but this year, organisers worked hard to make the event in June the biggest in years, and were rewarded when more than half of the population of the village came along to support it.
At the reception held last week, members of the organising committee met with the event's main sponsors to thank them for their support.
A slide show of around 700 pictures from the day ran throughout the evening, and cheques were given out to three charities chosen to benefit from the event.
These included the Maria Taylor Trust, the parish church and the youth centre.
There was also talk of next year's event, which is set to take place on June 26, 2010 and will feature a performance from the UK's leading Queen tribute act.
The committee are now looking for sponsors for next year's event as well as volunteers to help organise it, and details can be found at www.feastofstpeter.org.uk
