Village man scales Kilimanjaro

In the process he managed to raise more than £16,000 for the Voluntary Services Overseas charity through sponsorship.
He said: "Climbing Kilimanjaro was tough. The last day of the ascent started at midnight and I walked 19 hours on the trot in minus 20c.
"It was a mental as well as a physical challenge but an altogether amazing experience.
"Reaching the peak and taking that final step up to the infamous wooden sign was a very special moment.
"It was the culmination of a journey that I had spent many months and hours trying to envisage. It's hard to describe the feeling on reaching the top, but I guess it was unadulterated joy and amazement."
Since returning from the trip, Mr Rayet has visited St Mary's School and Thorpe House school, both in Gerrards Cross, to share his experiences with the youngsters there.
He said: "I was given a grilling by the school children on my climb and kids really found learning about simple things like how cold it gets at the summit most enchanting."
