Village dog found in Spain
A DOG from Chalfont St Giles has been found wandering the streets of Spain.
The dog, who has a tag which says his name is Teddy, was found two weeks ago in a place called Coin on the road leading to Marbella by Ivor lever, a British man living in the area.
He was found to have a UK chip and details show that he is registered to a J Clarke of Chalfont St Giles.
There is also a phone number given with the chip, but so far all attempts to call it have proved fruitless.
Mr Lever, who works with a charity called Charity for Animals in Need (CHAIN), has taken Teddy home where he is currently living with four other dogs and six cats.
Mr Lever said: "He is very obedient and responds well to English commands. I would love it if someone came forward to claim him. He's a lovely dog and it's very sad.
"A lot of animals in Spain are neglected and abused, and the situation is being made much worse by the large numbers of Brits returning to the UK and leaving their pets behind.
"Many of these dogs who were brought to Spain by their owner now find themselves in the killing stations which is a most inhumane way of dying in gas chambers.
"We as a charity are trying to get this barbaric method of destruction ended.
"I am really not sure what has happened with Teddy, but it would be great if someone recognised him and claimed him so that we can get him home to his rightful owner.
"I'm sure he would be much happier back in the UK than here in Spain."
