22075361 TVP.jpgPolice patrols are to be stepped up in Chalfont St Giles following two incidents during the weekend of March 7 and 8, where vehicles in School Lane and Bottrells Lane were badly vandalised during foiled car thefts.
PCSO Gavin McVeigh of Chalfont St Giles police confirmed that a team of eight officers are to mount an on-going police operation, involving foot patrols in the village and visits to shops that sell alcohol.

Gary Mills, 32, of Fleetwood Close, was handed the sentence at Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to a host of offences including attempted robbery, possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence, dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

Burglars strike two properties

22075361 TVP.jpgTwo houses were targeted when burglers rummaged through people's possessions but stole nothing.
At around 4.30pm on Monday, February 16 a property in Orchard Road was broken into via a rear kitchen window and on 1pm the following day, offenders broke into a home in Kings House.

Arsonists set a van on fire in Chalfont St Giles this week.
The incident happened at around 1am on Tuesday morning in The Lagger.
A fire crew from Beaconsfield attended the scene and used a hose to make the area safe.

Co-op robber sentenced

A schizophrenic man who admitted to robbing the Co-Op in Chalfont St Giles was handed a three-year community order this week for a host of similar offences.
Lee Jackson, 30, of Gayhurst Road, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to the robbery on the first day of a separate trial for breaking into a supermarket in Daventry, Northamptonshire, in 2004 and stealing £20,000.

Vandals target St Giles buildings

The scout hut, cricket club and garden association hall have been targeted in the last two weeks.
The most serious incident was when vandals tried to removed the gas pipes from the scout hut in Silver Hill.
Police say patrols have been increased in the village.

Two cars were stolen in Little Chalfont and Chalfont St Giles yesterday after their owners had left the engines running to help defrost them.
The first car stolen was a blue Volkswagen Passat at 7.45am in Beechwood Avenue, in Little Chalfont, with a blue Audi A8 stolen from Garden Reach, in Chalfont St Giles, between 8am and 8.30am.
Police are warning residents not to leave their cars unattended.

Worshippers at Chalfont St Giles parish church donated enough toys to fill eight large bin liners at their toy service on Sunday, December 14.
The toys were given to the Slough Refugee Support centre. Rev Tim Stacey, vicar, said: "I was so thrilled at being able to take eight bin liners full of toys to the centre. You should have seen their faces."

An enforcement day by Thames Valley Police in Chalfont Giles trapped fewer speeders but discovered a large number of drivers flashing their lights to warn others about the speed traps.
On November 26, police in Chalfont St Peter and Chalfont St Giles pulled over 10 motorists who flashed their lights to warn others as well as those not wearing seatbelts or using a mobile phone.

Firefighters tackled a blazing car in Burtons Lane, Chalfont St Giles, last Thursday.
Spokesman Fraser Pearson said the suspected arson, at 11.20pm, involved an Audi motor car which was parked in the street.
Mr Pearson said: "We used a hose reel and one set of breathing apparatus to put out the fire."
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service had published a set of dos and don'ts to help ensure that cars are not set on fire.
"The most important point is that all vehicles should be locked, as a first step towards safety, " said Mr Pearson.
