TWO schools in Chalfont St Giles joined together to celebrate glowing Ofsted reports.
Chalfont St Giles Infant School in School Lane and the Junior School in Parsonage Lane both received Outstanding Ofsted reports in recent months, so decided to hold a joint celebration.

SCHOOLS across Bucks have been forced to close for the second day running as the big freeze continues to hit the county.
No chances are being taken with more snow and heavy ice making driving and walking conditions treacherous.

Heavy snow shuts schools

SCHOOLS have been forced to close in Bucks after heavy snowfall in the county overnight.
More snow is predicted throughout Wednesday by the Met Office as county council gritters take to the road.

Snow forces school closures

SCHOOLS across Bucks have been forced to close today after the county was covered in heavy snowfall overnight.
Roads have been affected and journeys made more hazardous by the conditions forcing many schools to close a day early for Christmas term.

Gritters have been despatched to Chesham and Amersham to try and ease driving conditions.

CSG-News-Contest.jpgA budding journalist at Chalfont St Giles Junior School has been awarded for his ability.
Issa Doha, a year five pupil at the school in Parsonage Lane, was judged to be the best reporter after his school held an exercise in which they had to write in the style of a newspaper.
Pupils wrote about their recent geography project, which saw them paying a visit to Chalfont St Giles village centre to monitor traffic activity.

22945010 CSG-Speed-Watch.jpgYoungsters in Chalfont St Giles spent an afternoon clamping down on speeding motorists as part of a school geography project.
Pupils at Chalfont St Giles Junior School worked with PCSO John Webb to keep an eye on drivers travelling along Dean Way as part of a project which saw them analysing traffic and pedestrian habits in the village centre.
Vehicles seen exceeding 35mph will now receive a letter from the police warning them to slow down.

CSG-Library.jpgYoungsters in Chalfont St Giles were treated to a trip around the village library this week.
Children at the Chalfont St Giles Infant and Nursery School visited the library and were shown around before being read a story in a bid to encourage them to use the facility more.
The annual trip is designed as a way of teaching children that reading can be fun and is something that can be done outside school as well as in it.

CSG-Al-Fresco.jpgPupils from Chalfont St Giles nursery and infant school had their lessons 'al fresco' at a special Forest School.
The school has been by the Chiltern Open Air Museum (COAM) and the Hawk and Owl Trust and pupils got the chance to visit on Tuesday.
COAM education officer Melissa Maynard said the Forest School is now in its fifth year and currently runs weekly classes for the Chalfont St Giles infant school pupils.

22592498 CSG-Dangerous-Crossing.jpgTwo Chalfont St Giles headteachers had to supervise a zebra crossing because the usual lollipop lady was asked to 'stand down' while road repairs were being carried out.
Andy Tagg and Elen Peal, head teachers at Chalfont St Giles junior and infant schools respectively, assumed their 'traffic cop' roles at school drop-off and pick-up times on December 15 and 16, when Beryl Newton was temporarily suspended from her job at the crossing on Deanway.

22482182 CSG-School-Fete.jpgPupils from Chalfont St Giles Junior School celebrated the festive season with their very own Christmas fair.
Around £4,000 was raised during the event on Friday, December 12, which saw a number of stalls on offer including splat-the-rat, pin-the-nose-on Rudolph, hook-a-bauble, beat-the-buzzer and 'feely boxes' containing mystery items to touch.
